The Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 National Peer Workshop in Bengaluru brought together officials from 15+ Urban 95 – NN2.0 Network of cities in India. The workshop helped to enable a platform for celebrating key milestones achieved by cities so far and deliberating strategies towards scaling and sustaining the young children and parental wellbeing-centric approach going forward.

The Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 City-Level Workshop in Kochi brought together over 40 stakeholders including the mayor, senior city officials from city development agencies, community organisations, and knowledge partners to reflect on the city’s journey towards creating young children and caregiver-friendly neighbourhoods. The workshop served as a platform to review progress, strengthen inter departmental coordination, and co-create a shared roadmap to sustain and scale early childhood and parental well-being initiatives within Kochi’s urban systems.

Kochi Municipal Corporation and Cochin Smart Mission Limited organized a convening on 18 December 2024, bringing together 39 officials from diverse agencies to discuss strategies for mainstreaming young children and caregivers' wellbeing in urban development in Kochi. The discussions emerging from the sessions around early childhood development and social and behaviour change communication helped to sensitize and inform relevant city departments on their role in creating supportive urban environments for caregivers in the city.

The Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 (NN 2.0) was launched by Rahul Kapoor, Joint Secretary, Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in Delhi. The launch workshop brought together leaders and city officials from 2 state authorities and 18 cities as well as experts working in this space who emphasized the importance of equity, vulnerability and climate for the holistic improvement of neighbourhoods across cities. City offcials shared their plans for scaling the learnings from NNC, and these peer-to-peer learnings that will pave the way for the new phase.

Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Smart City Development Limited organized a convening on 12th February 2025, bringing together multi-sectoral stakeholders to brainstorm on strategies towards envisioning a young children and caregiver friendly Indore under the Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 program. Participants engaged in various hands-on activities at the workshop helping them understand the role they can each play to make Indore family friendly.

Jabalpur became the first Indian city to launch a Play Masterplan – Jabalpur Khel Plan - on 9th May 2025 in a city convening organized by Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Jabalpur Smart City Limited (JSCL) as part of the Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 program. The convening brought together multi-sectoral stakeholders towards devising strategies for making Jabalpur a young children and caregiver friendly city.

Committed to the well-being of young children and their caregivers, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) convened a multi-sectoral gathering under the Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 program. Udaipur is working towards realizing the vision of a young children and caregiver-friendly city by improving access to safe, inclusive, and engaging public spaces and early childhood development (ECD) facilities across diverse neighbourhoods. The convening helped to bring diverse stakeholders together, to identify a roadmap towards achieving this vision.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) convened a multi-sectoral gathering under the Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 program under Urban95 intiative. PMC unvelied their vision for making Pune a child and caregiver friendly city and launched public space design guidelines to support the implementation of family-friendly public spaces. The workshop helped stakeholders in Pune to understand how different strategies such as social and behaviour change interventions, regular programming of activities can enhance the usage of public spaces for families of young children.
