Nurturing Neighbourhoods National Peer Workshop
The Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 National Peer Workshop in Bengaluru brought together officials from 15+ Urban 95 – NN2.0 Network of cities in India. The workshop helped to enable a platform for celebrating key milestones achieved by cities so far and deliberating strategies towards scaling and sustaining the young children and parental wellbeing-centric approach going forward.
Key highlights :
- The Nurturing Neighbourhoods website was launched that will help enable a wider sharing of learnings and good practices from the cities and the program.
- The Infants Toddlers and Caregiver Neighbourhoods 2.0 set of publications will now be available on the website and a copy of the same was also given to all cities present.
- A panel discussion with city officials from Bengaluru, Rourkela, Kochi, Pune and Odisha Urban Development Department helped spotlight context specific strategies being adopted in these cities towards sustenance of the early childhood centric approach.
- 11 Network cities presented the efforts taken towards formulation of city strategies encompassing flagship project design and implementation,institutionalization of this lens in city planning, and activating local ecosystems.
- Experts shed light on the importance of embedding parental wellbeing and an early childhood centric approach in urban development through targeted efforts on softer and physical interventions.
- A site visit to NN projects in Bengaluru coupled with a demonstration of playground safety assessment and design sensitized city representatives on how public spaces for young children should factor in aspects of safety.
