The 2nd webinar of the series, highlighted the success stories of 2 cities from the Nurturing Neighbourhood Challenge – Jabalpur and Warangal, in their efforts towards developing a network of open spaces with age-appropriate play opportunities across the city. The webinar showcased Jabalpur’s journey of translating their vision of developing a city-wide network of inclusive play spaces for all, through systematic scaling of public spaces.
The webinar hosted a panel of experts, who have who have successfully conducted campaigns, mobilized people towards various environment friendly and sustainability initiatives. The lessons learned from these good practices will provide insights for mainstreaming the young children and family-friendly approach in cities.
Early Childhood Development facilities such as Anganwadis and Public Health Centers (PHC) are the public spaces accessed by young children and caregivers the most. However, their specific needs, which are distinct from those of other users are seldom considered while designing these spaces. The Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge has prompted the cities to reimagine these ECD facilities as public spaces for the community that can be used even post operational hours.
