City’s Vision
To improve the quality of life of infants, toddlers and their caregivers, Erode aims to enhance road safety and accessibility for pedestrians and provide more opportunities for young children to safely play in parks and public spaces.
Periyar Nagar is a well planned residential area with high concentrations of young children and caregiver population. The strategic location, being in proximity to early childhood development services and public places, facilitates planning effective interventions.
Unplanned vacant spaces in the park is an opportunity to incorporate natural and sensory play spaces
The residential street which is to be upgraded as Smart Road under Smart City project is to be included under NNC and will serve as safer street for young children
The adjacent streets of the park connecting to the Smart road has the potential to be developed as streets which are safer and accessible for young children
Improving bus shelters adjacent to Anganwadi and hospital for the safe and engaging use by young children and caregivers
Incorporating play and waiting spaces in the women and child hospital premises
